The Allied Defense Group's NS Microwave Products Support Security and Relief Efforts in the Gulf Region
Mobile Command Center Used to Fight Crime and Support Continuity of Governance in Hurricane Katrina Aftermath
VIENNA, Va., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Allied Defense Group, Inc. (Amex: ADG) announces that a product of its NS Microwave subsidiary, specifically a state-of-the-art mobile command center, is currently being utilized for law enforcement and protection efforts in the gulf region.
The Baltimore Police Department, which purchased the 45-foot command center vehicle in 2002, currently has the unit deployed as part of the national law enforcement disaster relief support for operations in the stricken gulf region. The mobile police station is the product of collaboration between Allied Defense's microwave security firm, NS Microwave, and LDV, a specialized vehicle manufacturer.
NS Microwave supplied the truck's integrated communication and surveillance center as part of a series of contracts for law enforcement equipment for the Baltimore Police Department. The custom-made truck affords the functionality of a police station, complete with a conference room with video screens. The truck was customized to enable officers working in the truck to have access to external intelligence, including federal databases, with the ability to monitor multiple surveillance sites and bi-laterally communicate with outside stations, from any location in the city, at the same time.
Major General (Retired) John J. Marcello, Chief Executive Officer and President of The Allied Defense Group said, "This mobile command center is an excellent example of how NS Microwave's advanced technology can assist local police departments with law enforcement and also provide the city with a continuity of government capability. In the event of a major natural disaster, such as Hurricane Katrina, or an equally destructive incident, the Baltimore Police Department would be able to operate from anywhere in the city, or anywhere in the country, as we see in this instance. That kind of security is very reassuring, especially in times like today."
